Cala Brandinchi (Brandinchi Beach)

At the southern foot of the peninsula of Capo Coda Cavallo, the coast of San Teodoro is relatively linear as far as the massive promontory of Punta Sabbatino, near the pretty village of Punta Aldia. Between these points and Capo Coda Cavallo there is the bay of Brandinchi, characterized by the presence of two stupendous beaches, separated by the small panoramic promontory of Colle di Capicciuolo.
To the south it lies Porto Brandinchi or beach of Lu Impostu; to the north, Cala Brandinchi. Both of them have the same exceptional prerogatives: white, very fine sand; shallow, sandy sea-beds giving the water extraordinary colours; a thick macchia of junipers covering the dunes behind as far as the banks of calm impermanent (i.e. dry in the summer) pools, which are very close to the two beaches.
The panorama as a whole is obviously beautiful from the hill of Capicciuolo, which was originally an islet, joined to the mainland in remote geological eras owing to the sedimentation of the same detrital materials that formed the two beaches.
Another cliff, this one still well surrounded by the sea, is Ruia Island, out Capo Coda Cavallo. The islet characterizes the views over the sea, with its reddish-granite rocks, after which it has been named.
Towards the hinterland, the low hills are covered with sweet-smelling Mediterranean macchia and small woods of pines, eucalipti and acacias, which enhance the fascination of this solitary and untouched environment.
